Events Chair Volunteer Role

Oregon Pride in Business (ORPIB) is seeking an experienced Event creator and curator. This person will recruit and supervise logistics, event volunteers, interface with media, partner closely with Communications and Marketing, and ensure event goals and objectives are met within budget.

What is ORPIB?

ORPIB champions opportunity, development, and advocacy for Oregon’s LGBTQ+ & Allied business community.

We create opportunities for marketing, networking, procurement, and referral-based business growth, programs that support development of business skills and expertise through workshops and seminars, and we advocate for positive economic, social, and political change.

We envision an economically empowered Oregon LGBTQ+ business community that inspires others. We empower our small business entrepreneurs and professionals, collaborate with nonprofit advocates, and engage with business and civic leaders to support policies that foster a more inclusive and welcoming business community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable about ORPIB’s mission and objectives 
  • Develop an annual events strategy that may include networking events, days of service, a corporate partner celebration, and a year-end celebration
  • Develop and track budget that is approved by Finance 
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses and individuals whom contribute to ORPIB events 
  • Communicate regularly with Communications Team to ensure alignment on initiatives and impact 
  • Track event feedback and conduct event retrospectives to inform future planning.

  • Liaise with other minority chambers and community partners on collaborative events as needed.
  • Work closely with the Events Logistics Coordinator to organize event logistics (i.e. venues, catering, sound, accessibility, etc.)

Qualifications & skill requirements

  • At least 3-years of Event coordination and curation experience 
  • Must be able to act as a liaison between Events, Board, and Communications 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills 
  • Strong public speaking skills 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Effective at garnering high Event attendance  
  • Collaborate effectively with ORPIB’s Development Director to garner Event sponsors and donors 
  • Manage and maintain an Events budget

  • Remote 
  • Event locations around Portland Metro Region
  • Q Center, North Portland

Term Commitment

  • 1 year minimum 

Time Commitment:

  • 10-12 hours average a month

Supervisory Responsibility 

  • This position reports to the Communications Director
