Background on Unicorn Solutions LLC

Unicorn Solutions seeks to create positive futures for youth impacted by systems. This work is done through training, facilitation, advising, and policy development around topics such as child welfare, youth mental health, and the LGBTQ community. Unicorn Solutions was established in February of 2021 by its Principal and Founder, Elliott Orrin Hinkle, has been an independent consultant for the past 10 years on a range of topics relating to youth, young adults, their development, and empowerment. Now having established their LLC they perform work under the Unicorn Solutions name. Working often in partnership with other individuals and organizations, Unicorn Solutions has had the privilege of working with and collaborating with staff at Lambda Legal, the National SOGIE Center, is a trainer for the Human Rights Campaign Foundation All Children All Family program, as well as being invited to the White House to speak about the transgender community and foster youth. 

Elliott is a skilled consultant and national expert focused on elevating lived experience and expertise in systems that serve children, youth, and families. As Principal and Founder of Unicorn Solutions LLC, they are an advocate and professional that brings 12+ years’ experience on topics such as child welfare, youth mental health, and the LGBTQIA2S+ community through training, advising, and facilitating culture change efforts. They are a graduate of Portland State University (PSU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Women, Gender, Sexuality, and Queer studies.  They have served as Commissioner and Vice Chair to the Oregon Governor’s Child Foster Care Advisory Commission. They have assisted and participated in child welfare and youth mental health research, they actively work to reduce barriers to access to care for LGBTQ youth and families and are trained in evidence-based peer coaching. Additionally, their skills include consultation and reviewing state’s Independent Living programs and NYTD survey work as well as providing support in program and policy development. 

In 2022, they received the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation award for Health Equity, presented by Youth MOVE National. Elliott has served as Vice Chair and Commissioner to the Oregon Governor’s Child Foster Care Advisory Commission. Most recently they served as a Federal Lived Experience Expert Advisory Board Member for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) - Equity Technical Assistance Center (ETAC) providing technical assistance to a variety of HHS offices and officials. Elliott is looking forward to serving LGBTQ+ businesses in Oregon, and is the incoming NGLCC Certification Chair for ORPIB.
